Free Inquiry 1: Introduction

For my free inquiry project I will be diving into the world of film analysis. I have chosen this topic as I have always loved watching films and I enjoyed being in multiple film classes over the years. I also hope to one day teach film studies and I think that working on my film analysis skills now will help me better facilitate an engaging film studies classroom one day. My goal for this inquiry project is to improve my film analysis skills which I will do by watching a film every week and focusing on one aspect of the film to analyze. By the end of my project I hope to be looking at multiple aspects of a film at once, culminating in a final analysis that will look at every aspect I have focused on so far in one film. Some resources that I will be using for this project include my notes on different attributes of film I have from previous classes, different streaming services I have access to so I can watch these films, and Youtube to watch the trailers of the films I watch which I will then link in my weekly posts. In addition to this, I will be looking at the popular social platform Letterboxd which is a platform made for users to review and log films they have watched.

For my first post next week I will be analyzing the film “Wuthering Heights” directed by Emerald Fennell.
