Free Inquiry 5: The End Credits
During this free inquiry project, I was able to rediscover my love of film and put time into a passion of mine that I would have otherwise not made time for during this busy semester. I very much enjoyed putting time aside to watch a movie every week and reflect on different aspects of it, making me feel more confident in my film analysis skills.
If I were to give myself advice when I was first starting this project I would tell myself to plan in advance what films I want to watch as I often found myself not completely sure what film I wanted to focus on each week. However, I think it was good that I went into this project not being completely certain what aspect of each film I would be analyzing as I watched it, giving me space to decide as I watched what I was drawn to and seeing the film as a form of art rather as just a mindless form of entertainment.
What I enjoyed most about my inquiry project was that I was able to make time for something I enjoy doing, making work feel like fun and making me purposefully put time into my own mental health. I also enjoyed feeling like I was gaining a deeper understanding of film analysis and that I was growing in the realm of viewing film as art.
The EdTech tools that were most helpful to me in documenting my inquiry were this website as it gave me an accessible platform for my analysis, Youtube as it was useful in helping me find clips and trailers of the films I watched, various film streaming services to watch my films, and IMDb in offering useful summaries of the films I watched to share with others.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of discovering a deeper love of film! I have attached below a fan made edit of one of my favourite films, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
