Reflection #9

A topic that we discussed this week which I think is very important is digital footprints. In class, we did an activity where we googled ourselves to see what would come up. I have done this activity before and found that there were very few things about me online which I was glad about, I also have a name which brings up some celebrities sometimes which I think added to the scarcity of things about me that would come up if I was googled.

I think that it is important to do this activity and discuss the importance of a digital footprint in our classrooms as students, especially in this age of online presence, are seldom careful about what they choose to post and share about themselves online. This is an important topic to discuss as once something is online it is impossible to truly erase it from the internet, a detrimental thing when it comes to impulsive and inappropriate content put online by students which will be brought up when they get older and try to enter the professional job market.
